Recording and Listening Blog

October 1, 2015

I have been practicing with "getting out of the conversation." Recording and Listening has been a phenomenal tool to assist me in deciphering what is coming from Life and what is egocentric karmic conditioning.

A few months ago, I called into Open Air Radio Show and talked to the Guide about some exciting possibilities Life was presenting regarding a new area of work. I was looking for guidance on how one knows when it is time to make a decision. Should I stay with my current job or take advantage of the new opportunities being presented? The Guide's encouragement was to "get out of the conversation." She suggested I respond to what drops in from Life, notice the conversation that is likely to come afterward, and simply drop the conversation.

This has been a rich practice, and Recording and Listening has been a vital support.

When I receive messages from Life, I immediately record the clear, kind, and complete encouragements: "Go to… call … follow up with ….”  Then, I notice the conditioning that arises in the form of noodling about how I am going to fit it into my schedule. I also notice the resistance— how I really don't want to, its not a good time, what was I thinking?  I record those statements starting with, “The voices are saying…"

Listening back, it strikes me how different the voice sounds when information comes from Life versus how it sounds when it comes from conditioning. The tone from Life is uplifting and I feel an openness in my heart when I hear the words. The tone from conditioning is whiny and when I listen back, I feel my energy drain.

Last week there was a clear message from Life to attend an event within a community of folks doing work I am interested in. When I put the event on my schedule, egocentric karmic conditioning started in with all the reasons this was not a good idea. It told me I had so much to do already and that this event was a waste of time. Conditioning kept asking “why” questions in attempts to keep my attention on it, instead of on Life.

I chose to keep my awareness on what was happening, paying attention to the ways in which egocentric karmic conditioning was vying for control and how it wanted me to feel fearful of the unknown. I chose to put in the ear buds and listen to the clarity of the message that had dropped in from Life.

When I arrived at the event, I noticed sensations labeled “discomfort” and the voices started in with a running commentary about the feelings.  I redirected attention to the breath and relaxed into the moment.

I had a lovely experience at the event. Afterward, I noticed happiness and a feeling of lightness in my body and spirit. I stood on a little bridge and recorded about the experience. When I listen to that recording, it immediately takes me to that feeling of being lit up!

Listening to the clear, kind, complete messages of Life and dropping the conversation of egocentric karmic conditioning is a glorious way to experience thisherenow. It is the only place I want to be!

Gassho.
